Basic catering equipment and supplies for the beginner caterer

In these times when everyone is busy making a living, very few people would like to go the extra mile to cook for a party and would rather pay for a full menu. For a stay-at-home mom who would like to spread her wings a bit and be able to generate additional income for her family, a small catering business is something she can do in a complementary way.

On the other hand, a recent graduate of a culinary course can also start their own catering service. Regardless of experience, education, and the amount of capital invested, knowledge of the proper catering team is essential. A catering gig cannot be successful without equipment, tools, and supplies.

Commercial kitchen equipment

Investing in quality commercial kitchen equipment is the responsibility of all catering service providers. Stoves, grills, convection ovens, steamers, grills are a must. Food preparation tools can include food processors, sharp knives, mixers, blenders, and even refrigerators. Coffee makers and espresso machines are also great additions to a catering business.

Cutlery, glassware, silverware and serving plates

Each catering service should have cutlery of different designs and sizes. Silverware, silverware, and serving plates must match the cuisine of the catering menu. The glassware should also be appropriate for the type of beverage being served.

Bar equipment

Providing a bar service is not a requirement for all caterers, but it is a welcome addition especially for dinner services. Cleaning supplies

Cleaning supplies and materials should never be left out of inventory. Dishwasher detergents and sponges are obviously essential. On the other hand, if the caterer also provides tablecloths, laundry detergents, stain removers, and cleaning chemicals should be added to the inventory.

Quality catering equipment and supplies can cost a lot. However, having a full inventory of commercial kitchen equipment and tools is a necessary investment for all catering businesses. Without them, the quality of food and service will be lacking. The success of a catering business lies in an excellent and delicious menu, friendly and courteous staff, a well-stocked pantry, and a quality catering team.
