Do you want washboard abs? Follow these 10 methods to lose weight

Don’t be fooled by all the hype about diets, supplements, or the latest ab machine advertised on TV. Instead, get abs naturally by following these simple strategies. The more dedicated you are to your abs program, the better results you’ll get in no time.

1) Change your eating habits. It’s not just about what you eat, but how much you eat. Eat enough to fuel your body to build muscle and burn fat. Your diet should consist of foods in their natural state such as lean meats, fruits, beans, vegetables, and nuts.

2) Eat every 3 hours. If you can, try to eat 5 or 6 times a day to speed up your metabolism and teach your body to burn more fat. You will reduce your belly fat by doing this, as you will not be eating large meals that will increase the size of your stomach.

3) Avoid starchy carbohydrates most of the time. You do not need to take drastic measures and follow a low-carb diet. Just limit foods like potatoes, rice, pancakes, oatmeal, and bread first thing in the morning or after you exercise. Eating carbohydrates after a workout will not turn into fat as your muscles use them to recover.

4) Eat more fruits and vegetables. Loaded with fiber, vitamins, and minerals, these are loaded with carbs to keep you feeling energized without any of the calories that starchy carbs have. Try to eat at least one serving with each meal.

5) Eat breakfast every morning. You don’t want to binge later. Instead, have a healthy breakfast so you set the trend for the rest of the day and eat healthy foods. A great breakfast would be something like an omelet with bacon and an orange.

6) Start being more active. Whether you go to the gym or play sports, everything you do burns calories, resulting in much greater fat loss around the abdomen.

7) Do reverse crunches. These are done by lying on the floor with your legs in the air and your knees bent. Then bring your knees back so they almost touch your chest. These are great for working your lower abs.

8) Do sit-ups on an exercise ball. By doing crunches on an exercise ball instead of on the floor, you won’t strain your back or neck. Instead, you get a wide range to work with that way, you work your core really well.

9) Do compound exercises. The best exercises you can do to build muscle and lose fat are squats, chest presses, shoulder presses, lunges, deadlifts, and rows.

These are very good for working the abdominals although they do not target them directly like the previous ones. Your abs are part of your core and that’s what your body depends on for balance when you do compound exercises like these.

10) Never give up. By using all of these methods, you can get the body you want in a matter of weeks with consistency. It takes hard work, but it’s not impossible. Keep it up and you will achieve much more than you expected.
