I’m afraid I would love to quit, what is it?

If you would love to quit, but are afraid you can’t … you are not alone.

Fear is one of the two dominant energies in life; love is the other. They don’t occupy the same space very well … in fact, they oppose each other. Fear methodically paralyzes until it completely prevents us from experiencing what would make us happy … love.

If we fear failure … we won’t try. If we fear death … we will not live. If we fear fear … we will not love. But if we face what we fear, we begin to dissipate its energy.

The fear of the unknown is without a doubt the most terrifying fear of all. Although with a little information, it can dissipate much faster than you think.

For years, I had a terrible fear of flying. He just couldn’t understand how the weight of a jumbo jet, packed with passengers and luggage, could lift off the ground, let alone fly safely.

On those rare occasions when I had to fly, I found myself foolishly repeating in my mind, over and over again … you guessed it … the worst case that would always end in a fierce crash.

The fear of the unknown is so powerful that it can replace rational thinking. You see, I knew for a fact that thousands of flights were leaving and landing successfully day after day … but somehow my fear would focus on the accident that made the news 10 years ago.

I finally decided to free myself from my fear by flooding myself with as much information as I could absorb the safety aspect of flying. I read countless testimonials from career pilots with 30 and 40 years of experience explaining safety and their love of flying.

I learned about the many safety aspects that make flying the safest mode of travel available today:

• A two-engine plane could fly and land safely even if one fails.

• In the extremely rare event that all engines stopped at cruising height (35,000 feet), the aircraft would glide 30 minutes covering 120 miles before landing on the ground, because all controls would function as if the engines were still running.

• Each commercial aircraft system is built with a primary, auxiliary, backup and emergency system to ensure passenger safety.

Honestly, with all this information, I was able to master my fear and fly much more comfortably.

Your fear of quitting is no different than my fear of flying … they are both desperately trying to prevent us from living the life we want. The good news is … with enough credible information, any “fear of the unknown” can definitely be transformed into a paper tiger.

Don’t you love it?
