3 tips to make the perfect Valentine

The art of giving Valentine’s Day is a centuries-old tradition that we participate in every Valentine’s Day. Some do it better than others, but most people are still missing out on a few key factors that could help them deliver the perfect Valentine. Valentine’s isn’t just for kids; using them effectively as an adult gives you the opportunity to be romantic, thrifty, and a little cheesier! Read on to learn how to write the best Valentine’s cards.

1. Use what you have (in your favor).

This is a fairly simple concept, but an important one nonetheless. If you are an artist, you are very lucky here, although it is important not to be too liberal with your arts, as an artist. I’ve seen some artists create horrendous poetry, as if the skills were synonymous. If your talent lies in writing, then don’t feel bad about buying a pre-made Valentine and writing something special, even poetic on that Valentine. Thinking a bit outside the box too, you can create valentines that are digitally created, pre-made (with a custom message), or even completely custom made by you. I’d at least suggest some degree of customization for Valentine’s Day, and not just one of those generic free cards. Valentines don’t have to be completely handmade to be amazing, but handmade Valentines are sweet.

2. Personalize it for your Valentine

Many Valentine’s Day cards fall into being generic. This may have been cute when you were a kid, and it’s probably still cute as an adult, if you’re with the right man or woman; however, this doesn’t change the fact that customizing a Valentine can add a lot of latent value to it. As mentioned above, you can personalize the card through writing; but the most sentimental gifts are generally the most personalized and personal. Make it specific to your Valentine.

3. Don’t stop

Now, this does not mean that you should declare your eternal love. Don’t obsess over your Valentine’s declarations unless you’re sure it’s appropriate. More to the point, just don’t be afraid to go a little musky and cheesy even. Valentine’s Day is the one day everyone can be hopelessly romantic. As long as your partner is not antivalentine, then he or she will understand. Just go out and give your partner something romantic. You won’t regret doing it.

Next, you may be wondering how to get your partner a gift for Valentine’s Day. That’s another story, one that we don’t really have time for here.
