5 great things to do in Watchet

Buy a caravan in or around Watchet and you will be in an ideal position to enjoy the best that Somerset has to offer. Caravans are a wonderful way to make a true home away from home, a base that you and your family can enjoy for years to come. We thought we’d help you start exploring your new vacation home, with five great things to do nearby. Enjoy your exploration!

1: Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole. These twin attractions (you can do both in one day) are Somerset’s crown jewel, and with good reason. Cheddar Gorge is an astonishing natural formation just outside the town of Cheddar (home of the cheese), which seems to have come straight out of Middle-earth: towering rocks and breathtaking views from the top of the (hundreds of) steps that take you to the edge! Buy a caravan from Watch and you can visit the Gorge at the best time of year, when the cider apples have been picked…

2: Go to Weston Super Mare. Pack some lunches in your caravans and take the half-hour drive to the coast for a true Best of British adventure. Weston Super Mare is one of the last places left in England where you can ride a donkey on the beach, eat real cotton candy and dig for multicolored sand. A bustling seaside resort in its own right, Weston is an ideal day out for all the family.

3: Check out the amazing marine life and adventure rides at Tropiquaria, Somerset’s premier wildlife park and all family attraction. Buy an RV in and around Watch and you’ll be just four miles away from this song-and-dance spectacular West Country, complete with two full-size pirate ships, as well as animal pens and an aquarium. Great fun for parents and children alike.

4: Go back to the old days on the West Somerset Railway, the longest private passenger railway in the country. Glorious steam trains weave their way up and down the length. The railway actually runs through Watchet, so when you buy a caravan in the area, you’re perfectly placed for a historic day out! Prepare some sandwiches and enjoy a wonderful trip back in time.

5: Hippies, history buffs and families who love a great day out at a National Trust property will love Stonehenge and Salisbury. Head to Glastonbury Tor at sunrise or sunset for the full effect, before spending a few hours wandering among the stones. Then head to Salisbury’s quaint streets, bustling shops and stomach-rumbling restaurants for lunch. Round out your day with a trip to nearby Avebury, whose own stone circle is part of a still-working village.

When you buy a caravan from Watch, you can explore the Somerset area at your leisure – superbly situated for many of the UK’s top attractions.
