Comair Flight 5191 Lexington Kentucky (A Meaningful Life)
It started like any other Sunday morning. My wife Stephanie, daughter Allie, and I got in the car to drive 20 minutes to the morning church service. The radio was still on from the night before with a low sound in the background. WLW in Cincinnati, I had been listening to the Reds play the Giants on the West Coast on my ride home from the office Saturday night.
A special report came on the radio and consciously neither of us was paying attention to it, I vaguely remember something about the accident and Lexington, Ky. When the report was finished, I asked my wife and daughter if they had just said anything about a plane crash. in Lexington Kentucky?
Neither of them had consciously focused on the report or heard anything. I immediately changed the channel to a local Lexington station, and for the next 18 minutes the three of us listened in shock as the tragic details of that morning were revealed. Of course, our pastor began the service with a prayer for the families after we arrived at the church.
When the service ended, everyone was talking about the details of the morning. We went out to eat with my parents as we usually do every Sunday at lunchtime. When he talked about the accident, my father summed it up. “That’s why we all need to learn to live life to the fullest every day,” he said.
My thoughts were everywhere. I thought about how many times I had personally taken the exact same 6:10 am flight from Lexington to Atlanta. How none of us were promised tomorrow, and what my father had said about living life to the fullest.
It was at that moment that I felt overwhelmingly grateful that I was able to spend 27 years of my life in the network marketing industry. One of the greatest benefits of network marketing is that it gives everyone involved the chance to live a meaningful life.
Please stop and think about it. There are many professions in which you can earn a good income. However, how many of those professions also allow you to touch the lives of so many other people in such a positive way? Not many! Outside of ministry, I cannot think of any career that gives each of us the opportunity to make such a positive difference in the lives of our fellow human beings.
Most network marketing companies offer products and services that can make a big difference in some people’s lives. Think about some of the testimonials you’ve heard about your product line. Some people have almost been resurrected by the nutritional products of some companies. How would you feel if you were the one who shared the product with that person? How can you put a dollar value on something like that?
Look at the tens of thousands of people whose financial lives will never be the same again because of the awesome industry of network marketing.
The lifestyle, the cars, the vacations, the freedom that our industry offers is incredible. But when our lives here end, what will really matter is whether we were able to make a positive difference in the lives of others. We should all be thankful that network marketing gives each of us the opportunity to live a meaningful life.
