Don’t think car shows hate hype!

I have read many blogs and forums on various custom car websites over the past few months and it completely baffles me how cold the custom car scene can be. It seems that certain websites have become nothing more than a cesspool of hype and people who have very high opinions of themselves.

It seems that these websites that exist to bring the custom car community together actually help keep things segregated by being an absentee admin. What is an absentee manager? An absent manager is one who does not do his job, in the case of blogs and forums; it would be the moderator who does not moderate. So instead of stopping the trash talk about certain car shows, they let it linger and continue. In doing so, they have allowed others to plant some nasty seeds of hate that continually grow unchallenged within the custom car community. Instead of facts, we have ignorant opinions.

I think the most ignorant opinion is the idea that car shows should never make money. In fact, when it comes to making money at car shows, I’ve noticed that many people take a liberal position that somehow a show promoter should be able to lose money on their show and continue to operate the show despite the odds. financial concerns. Never mind the fact that if the circumstances were turned upside down and the critics were putting on a show, that doesn’t matter at all. It’s about getting something for nothing. If your program doesn’t give away the bank, it certainly must suck.

What’s most interesting is that the people spouting these ignorant opinions are also the same people who complain the most when shows get canceled and fall by the wayside. There is no surprise there! Perhaps instead of spreading exaggerated negative opinions on various forums, they should take a more positive and proactive approach and make sure the shows are struggling to survive. You know, put your differences aside and use a little teamwork to help keep the custom car scene alive by saving struggling shows from certain death. ESM has seen a number of custom car shows disappear and if enthusiasts think it doesn’t affect the scene…think again.

Given everything I’ve said, I’m not advocating not calling attention to a program that is harming people. Some need to be. What I’m suggesting is that instead of spreading some loudmouthed opinions and a bunch of hype, maybe the critics should make sure that what they’re spreading are real facts. Now don’t get me wrong, opinions are fine when used responsibly, but stating an opinion as fact is nothing but exaggeration. So, the next time you hear a hater on a show, check the facts for yourself, and most importantly, don’t believe the hype.
