Mi 360? Home Security Camera 2K for Office

Xiaomi Mi 360 – Home Security Camera 2K For Office and Home

Capture beautiful video footage with a resolution that’s almost as high as your TV. This camera can even see in the dark thanks to a built-in night vision feature.

Its controls are buried inside Xiaomi’s Mi Home app, which is also used for many of the company’s other smart products. You can also use the app to access saved recordings on an external NAS.

Features

Aside from its night vision, the Mi Security Camera 360 comes with two-way talk. You can call the device from the live feed screen and use its speaker to communicate with people at home or at work.

The camera also supports motion detection and can automatically record clips when it detects movement. It can store up to 7 days of rolling cloud storage using a microSD card.

As with other Xiaomi smart devices, you can control the Mi Security Camera 360 via the Mi Home app. This is the same app that you use for Mi Home products like robot vacuum cleaners and air purifiers. You can also set specific recording times here. However, you can’t configure multiple schedules, which is a bit of a bummer.

Design

Xiaomi’s security camera takes a fairly minimalist approach in terms of design. It sits on a flat base that can swivel 360 degrees around its own axis, and has a camera suspended in the middle of it.

Office

The camera can also be tilted up and down, giving you a 108-degree vertical field of view. It can detect motion in a room and trigger an alert to notify you of activity.

The Mi Home app, which is used to control all of Xiaomi’s smart home products including robot vacuum cleaners and air purifiers, can be used to access the camera’s live stream and settings. It supports Google Assistant and Alexa integration and lets you broadcast the camera’s video feed on a Google- or Alexa-powered smart display. It can also be set up to store recordings on a NAS device.

Video quality

The camera offers a wide field of view and a motorised pan/tilt, enabling you to watch most of the room without moving. Xiaomi even lets you play an announcement through its speaker to deter intruders or notify delivery people that they’re being watched.

The app shows a live image in 2k resolution and saved recordings are sharp enough to identify unknown people or objects. The zoom is a bit less impressive but still useful at two times magnification.

You can play back clips in a simple thumbnail view with times rounded to the nearest hour running across the top. You can also choose to show a map of the area covered by the camera. Alternatively, you can download footage to your NAS for subscription-free storage.

Motion detection

The camera’s motion detection capabilities are surprisingly effective. In our tests, the camera immediately notified us of any movement and recorded a short video clip. You can access all of this data on the live feed screen in the app.

The app allows you to choose between a variety of alert settings and filter out what you want to see from what you don’t. This flexibility prevents the camera from flooding you with notifications and keeps it focused on what matters to you.

It supports Google Assistant and Alexa smart home integration and can broadcast its feed to a compatible smart display. It also has a MicroSD card slot for local recording, allowing you to avoid ongoing subscription fees. This makes it a great choice for anyone who wants to monitor their home remotely.

Installation

The camera supports offline recording via micro SD cards, which saves to a folder on your phone. This is a nice feature that avoids subscription costs.

There’s also seven days of free cloud backup, which is a nice touch. And you can also use this camera as a home surveillance hub by linking it to other Xiaomi smart devices.

Setting this up is fairly simple. After a quick scan, the app should recognise it as a new device and ask you to connect to Wi-Fi and add the camera to your Mi Account. The app then shows a live feed and associated controls. You can also set a specific schedule for the camera to start monitoring, and there’s an option to play an announcement through it (though this volume is quite loud right out of the box). It’s a good feature if you want to deter intruders or alert delivery people about your location.
