Pitcher becomes famous thanks to the help of chiropractic

Cole Hamels, the baseball pitcher, was on his team’s disabled list about a year ago and had to miss most games during that period due to injuries. This is the same pitcher who is now being celebrated as the Most Valuable Player for helping his team win the World Championship in the 2008 World Series.

He pitches for the Philadelphia Phillies. He began developing elbow problems during the latter part of the 2007 season, and these were severe enough to keep him sidelined. He had previously suffered from knee pain and hip pain, but had received help in the form of chiropractic care.

Prior to the start of the 2008 season, he is known to have petitioned his team management for the availability of chiropractic care for himself and his teammates when they played in Philadelphia. He also requested that this chiropractic care be provided in the other cities they travel to to play their scheduled games as well.

Once the team’s management agreed, Hamels went on to say that using the help of a chiropractor had worked very well for him, and that it was a good thing that management had started up a team of chiropractors in different cities. This was in April of 2009. He went on to say that after this chiropractic care became fully available, he was of the opinion that they could pull off the 20-win mark for that season.

While he fell short of the 20-game number he had set for himself, he finished the year with a remarkable 14-10 record. This led his team to the conference championship and also gave them a play-off berth. This is the time when Hamels started to do extremely well.

The first of their playoff appearances came against the Milwaukee Brewers. He did a great job and got his team into the next round where they had to face the Los Angeles Dodgers. He pitched in the first game of their series and again helped his team win, earning his team a berth in the World Series. The MVP was then awarded to Hamels for the League Championship Series.

Due to recent success and feeling good about his health, the World Series saw him take the mound in Game 1 against the Tampa Bay Rays and help his team to a win. Hamels was called up again in the last game and pitched his way to victory. He earned the coveted MVP award for his performance in the 2008 World Series.

His incredible performance in the postseason, along with the 4 win, 0 loss record, will surely be remembered for some time to come. In contrast to the 2007 season, where he was tending to his throwing arm, Hamels was now in the spotlight, even appearing on a series of television shows like The Late Night Show with David Letterman.

It is obvious that the confidence he had in chiropractic care coupled with his willingness to work to take care of his fitness helped him succeed during the season. Well done Chiropractors, the Phillies and Cole Hamels.
