Use of emu oil for the treatment of blackheads, whiteheads and acne

The problem

Blackheads are pores (or holes) in the skin that become clogged with a mixture of dead skin cells and the skin’s own natural oil. If the pores are open to air and clogged, they are called blackheads. This is due to their contact with air which causes them to oxidize, turning them black. However, if the clogs are covered with leather, no oxidation occurs and we call them white spots. All humans, to some degree, experience clogged pores from time to time, resulting in blackheads and whiteheads. If the clogged pores become infected and inflamed, they also fill with pus. When the pores become infected it is known as acne.

The benefit of emu oil to treat clogged pores and acne

Emu oil helps in treating clogged pores and acne for the following reasons:

• Its chemical composition is very similar to the natural oil of our own skin. The oil penetrates deep into human skin when applied. This hydrates the skin, reduces the appearance of large pores, and loosens blackheads so they’re easier to remove.

• It is not comedogenic, which means that it does not clog the pores of our skin. This is one of the notable characteristics of the oil.

• It is bacteriostatic, which means it does not support the growth or reproduction of bacteria, so when applied, it does not alter any current acne condition.

• Is highly concentrated with natural anti-inflammatory compounds to be effective in soothing the look and feel of acne infection.

Application

Pure Emu Oil can be applied directly to the skin, at least twice a day, to any area where there are clogged pores, or to any other skin infection or inflammation. It is suggested that for best results, treatment be carried out for two to four weeks and then at least once a day as needed. Emu oil is 100% safe to use.

removal of blackheads

Many blackheads will come off on their own, but this can be helped with a gentle skin scrub. Whiteheads can be exposed to air with a mild skin scrub. Specialized products can also help remove blackheads. Such products are available at your pharmacy.

Other skin conditions relieved

In addition to helping to treat blackheads, whiteheads, and acne, emu oil is also useful in helping to treat the following skin conditions:

• Bruises

• Cuts

• Dermatitis

• Eczema

• Psoriasis

• Rash

• Waste

• Sun burns

For these reasons, Australian Aboriginal people have used Emu Oil for thousands of years as an “Elixir of Life” and it is now well known throughout the world as a first aid kit in a bottle.
