What you need to know before you go camping in the Houston Bay Area

Texas is a great state with an incredible number of sights and attractions to enjoy. The state of Texas has its own unique culture that varies from place to place. Many different tourists from neighboring states and even from other parts of the world come to enjoy the food, music, nature, and activities that the reclusive state has to offer. From those escaping the suburbs for a camping weekend, to those looking for day trips to wineries and even the beach, there is something for everyone. Here’s a guide to what you need to know before you go camping in the Houston Bay Area.

1. Make plans

Going on a great and successful camping trip requires some prior experience or a little more effort in the way of planning. While there are many different ideas about how you should enjoy a vacation, many would agree that simply “winging it” isn’t the ideal way. There are many things to do in the Bay Area and you can adapt to more exciting activities and plan for any hiccups if you take some time to plan your options. Be sure to pay attention to lodging options, restaurants, camping, and more. Call or find locations and discuss in person to get the best price or take advantage of special offers. Sometimes just going the extra mile can save money and time.

2. Come prepared

There are a variety of different activities to take advantage of in the Bay Area. Some are perfect for couples and others are geared towards groups and families. However, if you are not prepared with clothing, equipment, rentals, etc. appropriate, you may run out of options and not be able to enjoy all that is offered. For example, one popular attraction is the Kemah Beast, a thrilling wet boat ride that takes you by speedboat across the bay. Be sure to bring your bathing suit and some nightlife gear in case you decide to hit the bar at Fatty’s of Cabo for a few drinks. Bring dancing shoes and loose-fitting clothing in case you decide to sail a boat or swim at the Kemah Boardwalk. Being prepared with everything you need will allow you to focus on enjoying all the activities.

3. Find the best places to eat

For those of you vacationing with the family, it’s always wise to find out about the best places to eat ahead of time. Look around to see what’s available closer to where you’ll be camping and staying. There is a wide variety of restaurants catering to different styles of cuisine. If you love seafood, the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company serves up some of the best seafood in the Bay Area.

Being prepared and planning your vacation from the beginning will allow you to have more time to enjoy with your partner, friends or family.
