During the 2011 storms, many towers were put out of service due to unfortunate accidents due to very slippery roads, limited visibility, or simply the ignorance of people driving with limited driving skills or not comfortable driving on dangerous conditions. Over the course of the last five storms, an estimated 1,000 towers have collapsed or run off the road.
