San Diego Seven – Top 7 Beaches

With miles and miles of beaches, a world-famous zoo, great restaurants, incredible surfing, internationally acclaimed horse racing and golf, spectacular sunsets, and perfect year-round weather, what’s not to love about San Diego?

One of the most popular things to do in San Diego is go to the beach. But in San Diego, no two beaches are the same, each one has a unique personality. Do you need some ideas on which beach to call yours? Here is a list of 7 of the best beaches in San Diego:

  1. Coronado Beach – Gentle waves, wide open spaces, pristine sand, and the magnificent Hotel del Coronado in the background have earned this beach a spot among the Travel Channel’s Top Ten Beaches in America.
  2. Pacific beach – Whether you’re traveling the seemingly endless boardwalk or sipping a cold beer at one of the many beachfront bars, Pacific Beach (commonly referred to as “PB”) is the place for people watching. With its proximity to the great nightlife, PB is the favorite place for college students having a good time.
  3. Mission Beach – A stone’s throw from SeaWorld is Mission Beach, home to Belmont Park – a beachfront amusement park reminiscent of Coney Island and the Santa Monica Pier.
  4. La Jolla Cove – The far north is a paradise for snorkelers and is home to the La Jolla Underwater Park Ecological Reserve. In the far south, you’ll find Seal Rock, home to many wild California gray seals.
  5. Swami beach – Find your passion for surfing at Swami’s Beach in Encinitas. Located just south of the Self-Realization Fellowship Ashram’s Hermitage and Mediation Gardens, Swami’s Beach is where you’ll find some of the most zen waves in San Diego.
  6. Dog beach – During the “off-leash” season (which runs from the day after Labor Day through June 15), this little beachfront strip located north of 29th Street in Del Mar is a great place for dogs run, swim, have fun and relax. … just be a dog!
  7. Blacks beach – Although public nudity is illegal in San Diego, lifeguards tend to turn the other cheek when it comes to Blacks Beach, popularly known as San Diego’s nude beach. Blacks Beach is located near Torrey Pines State Beach.
