Which Aion warrior is better for you: gladiator or templar?

Warriors are Aion’s tanks. They form the first line of defense in any established search party. Up there, on the front lines, with the mob boss attacking them, praying to the god of ‘Agrobending’, that the healer they partnered with would know of his work.

In aion, there are two classes of warriors, the templar and the gladiator. Which class you choose really comes down to two types of players. Those who like pvp, and those who like pve. For aion, templars are for pve and gladiators are for pvp. That’s not to say you can’t PvP a Templar or PvP Gladiators, but with the skill and stigmas currently available, they’re best suited to their core roles.

Typical Templar construction

Templars should definitely equip themselves with a sword and shield. The shield should be used for blocks and stuns. Gear stats should always include shield and hp rates. This build is great for PvE and allows the Templars to perform their primary roles as the main tank for the big boys. Having defense this high means healer classes don’t have to heal as much, which lowers mana costs and generates less aggro for the healer.

This build is also not bad for PvP. Having such high defense and health greatly improves your survivability. In one-on-one situations, you’ll often outlast other classes, though stigma additions like the Prey ability are essential as they keep ranged classes from flying away.

Typical gladiator build

The main weapons of choice are polearms. With this you will be before groups of enemies. Team stats should always include physical attack and critical rate. To deal damage you must equip yourself with a polearm. You will have a higher chance to crit with a polearm, making you a burst damage killer. Explosion damage in any PvP situation wins battles, as healers don’t have a chance to heal your target like they would in a long fight.

So your team stats should be critical, attack power, and health. You will need health as your plate armor will not be as effective against magic attacks. In pve, you will have the role of auxiliary tank. You’ll be upfront with the templars, making sure any additional mobs don’t get to your ranged healers and classes in your party. Having high damage allows you to grab aggro quickly, and your plate armor makes sure the healer isn’t too stressed when you do.

In conclusion, when you reach level 10, think carefully about what role you want to play in Aion. These two warrior classes share the same base class up to level 10, but the game is very different once you’ve chosen your career path.
