All the performances and awards given during the 52nd Grammy Awards

The Grammy Awards is an awards show that began in 1958 and has been broadcast on television since 1971, presenting awards for achievement in the music industry. The name Grammy comes from the gold gramophone trophies that are awarded to winners each year. This year, the 52nd Grammy Awards took place in Los Angeles and lasted more than three hours with many awards and live performances, such as Lady Gaga and Elton John sitting on dueling pianos with piano lamps singing a combination of Speechless and Your Song for the audience. . Another incredible performance was from Pink, who sang Glitter in the Air while performing an impressive aerial acrobatic trick with silk scarves and the wonderful lighting of House of Troy.

Beyonce Knowles made Grammy Awards history at the 52nd Grammy Awards by winning the most Grammy Awards for a woman in one year. She took home 6 awards for various things including Song of the Year and Best Female R&B Vocal. Her song Single Ladies was a worldwide hit that earned her several of her awards, as well as the album the song was on. Despite her fame and recognition at the awards show, Beyonce seemed genuinely surprised to receive so much praise and especially thanked her husband, Jay Z, another famous musician. Her career started as a singer in the girl group called Destiny’s Child and she really took off once she started her solo career.

The 20-year-old country singer, Taylor Swift was the other big winner at the 52nd Grammy Awards, winning the top award for Album of the Year for her album Fearless. She has had a good year winning several awards and the Grammy was no exception for her taking home 4 of the Gramophone gold trophies. In addition to winning her first Grammy Awards, Swift sang a duet with one of her singing idols, Stevie Nicks. The future certainly looks promising for the young singer from Nashville.

Another group from Nashville, Tennessee that surprised many at the Grammy Awards was the family band called Kings of Leon who took home three awards including Record of the Year beating rock heavyweights U2 and the band by Dave Matthews. And yet, a band from a third country took home a big prize by being named the best new artist awarded to Zac Brown’s band. It seems that country singers and Nashville singers really did well at the 52nd Grammy Awards.

One of the highlights of the night was during a special tribute to Michael Jackson, where they showed a video he had made that was to be featured on his tour that he was rehearsing for at the time of his sudden death. It was done in 3D and singers Celine Dion, Smokey Robinson, Jennifer Hudson and Carrie Underwood sang with it. Michael Jackson’s children, Paris and Prince accepted a lifetime achievement award on behalf of their father, which moved the entire audience.
