Crab farming in the Westfalls in World of Warcraft
Not all that glitter is gold. sometimes they are crabs
It’s hard to believe that this place produces gold. I read about a place on the Westfall coast, northwest of the Jangolode mine (pictured above) that has crabs that respawn almost instantly after being killed. These crabs are only level 14, so any high level player in the area is fully capable of causing a massive crab genocide.
My first thoughts were “who cares if you can kill a million of these things an hour, if they don’t drop anything useful then there’s no point”. Fortunately, to my surprise, when I put my 30 minutes of farming on the AH, it was all sold within 48 hours at decent prices. The only reason I can think of these things sold so well is that there are a lot of people currently leveling up the kitchen or lower level hunters who don’t want to try and get their own food.
The main thing that drops are ingredients for 3 recipes, as well as the occasional shiny little pearl from clams. The crabs drop a few green coins and gears, but they are such small amounts that it wasn’t worth counting (I’d estimate I gained about 1-2g of everything). However, there is the option to bring a disenchanter next time to try to do something useful with these drops.
There is also a rare spawn elite called Brack who walks by who is worth killing if you spot him.

The previous data was from 30 minutes of culture. The mobs aren’t close enough for me to AOE effectively, so I stood in the middle of the site and, like a hunter, kept shooting anyone who got within range. Bodies don’t despawn unless they’ve been left unlooted for about 5 minutes, so I was able to shoot about 50 of them before looting them all at once to save time. As you can see on my server, this place returns a good 290 g/h, which isn’t bad for killing level 14s by the sea.
